H.R. Houston Community Leadership Award

Purpose: To recognize the efforts of an individual who serves the community through distinguished leadership.

Eligibility: Open to all Leadership Collierville Alumni.

Criteria: The award reflects positively on the Town of Collierville and the organization, focusing on a record of service and leadership demonstrated primarily within the Town. Consideration is given to whether the leadership goes beyond the call of duty or professional job requirements.

Selection: Recipients are chosen based on the quality of their impact rather than the number of nominations received.

Jeff Abeln Outstanding Alumni Award

Purpose
The Leadership Collierville Outstanding Alumni Award recognizes a Leadership Collierville graduate who exemplifies the mission, values, and spirit of the program through continued service, leadership, volunteerism, and active engagement with Leadership Collierville and the greater Collierville community.

Named in memory of Jeff Abeln, former Assistant Police Chief, Leadership Collierville graduate, and past Board President, this award celebrates alumni who demonstrate an enduring commitment to leadership development, community involvement, and the advancement of Leadership Collierville.

This award is intended to encourage active alumni participation throughout the year and strengthen engagement with Leadership Collierville. Unlike the H.R. Houston Award, which recognizes broader community leadership and service, the Outstanding Alumni Award specifically recognizes alumni who actively support and advance Leadership Collierville and its mission for the last fiscal year.

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for consideration, nominees must:

  • Be a graduate of Leadership Collierville.
  • Be a current member in good standing of Leadership Collierville. (Dues Up to Date)
  • Have demonstrated meaningful involvement with Leadership Collierville during the current award year.
  • Have participated in at least one Leadership Collierville event, committee, volunteer activity, mentorship opportunity, alumni engagement initiative, or board-related activity during the award year.
  • Demonstrate ongoing leadership, volunteer service, and support of Leadership Collierville.
  • Serve as a positive ambassador for Leadership Collierville within the community.
  • Not be a current member of the award selection committee.
 

Selection Criteria
Nominees will be evaluated based on:

  1. Leadership Collierville Engagement
    • Participation in events, committees, volunteer opportunities, board service, mentoring, and alumni activities.
  2. Advancement of Leadership Collierville
    • Promotion of Leadership Collierville within the community.
    • Recruitment and encouragement of future class participants.
    • Advocacy for the organization’s purpose and impact.
  3. Community Leadership and Service
    • Demonstrated leadership and volunteerism in civic, nonprofit, educational, professional, or community organizations.
  4. Leadership Impact and Accomplishments
    • Measurable contributions and outcomes resulting from the nominee’s efforts.
  5. Ambassadorship
    • Representation of Leadership Collierville with professionalism, integrity, enthusiasm, and commitment.
